Extending Leads with Rogowski Coils and Integrators
Magnelab Rogowski coils and associated integrators are designed for 50 Hz and 60 Hz measurement. At such frequencies the noise becomes as issue for measuring current below 20 amps. The solution to low current measurement is to eliminate the source of the electrical noise. While twisted pairs reduce some of the noise, the easiest way is to shorten the cable to reduce the noise. For this purpose Magnelab engineering proposes reducing the cable between the integrator and the electric meter, while extending the cable between the Rogowski coils and the integrator, if needed. Installing the integrator as close to the meter as possible reduces the noise level and improves the low current measurement.
